This month we celebrate Lisa Johnson, a terrific business leader and longtime advocate of
Doyenne, women entrepreneurs and the startup community throughout Wisconsin.
I first met Lisa Johnson at a networking event in 2012. Within minutes, it was obvious to me that
she is a superwoman who inspires others to push boundaries, to be the best version of
themselves and to realize their potential.
In January 2013, Lisa joined Doyenne as an Ambassador, bringing with her a successful history
and legacy as an entrepreneur and businesswoman who built and sold companies in the
bioscience sector. In her role as VP of Business Development & Corporate Development at
Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. (WEDC), Lisa soon became more than just a
Member/Ambassador of Doyenne but also a friend and associate to the organization.
Lisa’s support for and participation in Doyenne programming includes mentoring at Doyenne
Retreats, shining the spotlight on Doyenne as an integral element of our ecosystem in public
appearances and in conversations with the media, serving on panels championing women’s
entrepreneurship, and judging last year’s Doyenne 5x5x5 pitch event as well as Doyenne’s
Not only does Lisa actively support the Doyenne Group’s work, she and WEDC have been fiscal supporters from the very beginning, from our first event to currently helping us make our
Evergreen Fund a reality as well as sustained programmatic support.
Lisa’s contributions to the entrepreneurial ecosystem by supporting, promoting and encouraging
startup cultures and communities throughout the state will no doubt continue as she transitions to CEO of BioForward. I know Lisa will do amazing things in her new role, and we wish her the
very best in her next endeavor.
Thank you, Lisa!
